Open cell spray foam is soft, flexible and explands aggressively on application - filling irregular cavities, gaps around framing and hard to reach spaces that batt insulation never touches. At R3.5 to R4 per inch its less dense than closed cell, but it air-seals extremely well and costs significtnly less, making it the right product for a wide range of interior applications.
