Spray foam handles irregular cavities better than any other insulation product. Vapor management matters more in older homes because the original building assemblies were designed to be vapor-open — they breathed. Closed-cell foam, which acts as a vapor retarder, can cause moisture problems if it's applied in the wrong locations without accounting for how the rest of the assembly manages moisture.
